For Claire

This work is dedicated to my dear friend, Claire Robinson, who died unexpectedly on August 4, 2023 from a brain tumor that resulted in a seizure. She never showed signs or symptoms. A trained NASA scientist, Claire validated my healing arts practices with intrigue and curiosity. She was one of the first to know about my clairvoyant training.

We bonded over medical memoirs like The Neuroscientist Who Lost Her Mind and I Am I Am I Am: A Woman’s Seventeen Brushes with Death. Of the two of us, I thought I would be the one to die a premature death. In 2017, top neurologists across VA & MD  studied my case. At the time, I feared a neurodegenerative disease. Claire and I shared a fascination with stories of people overcoming their own medical hardships. Now I get to give back, sharing my story about how exploring divergent consciousness radically changed my perceptions of health, life, and death.

To Claire—friend and compass—your curiosity saw me before I could see myself.

To my ancestors who carried unhealed grief —may this work be your rest.

To my great-grandfather, taken by violence—may peace find you at last.

To my uncle—rest easy knowing I no longer fear the illness we once thought bound us.

To my grandfathers—may reunion greet you.

And to my grandmothers, whose very lives were mislabeled and misunderstood—we are rewriting the story together.

ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS

To my parents: my dad, who instilled in me a passion for being at the forefront of scientific and technological advances, and my mom, who nurtured my love for creative exploration. This work would not exist without the foundation of your upbringing and your unwavering support. You both continue to surprise me in the most beautiful ways. I love and cherish you.

To my close circle of friends and confidants, thank you for supporting me in all that I am and all that I do. Our friendships run deep, and I love you dearly.

To the professionals who stand behind this work, I extend my gratitude. Not everyone can show up for this kind of content, and your presence makes it possible.
